Kenneth Morrison

Kenneth Morrison is a Professor of History and Director of the Institute of Global Challenges and Cultures at De Montfort University. He held a Visiting Professorship at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2019. His research focuses on the Western Balkans, with a particular emphasis on nationalism, ethnic conflict, and the interplay between political elites and ethnic and religious communities. He is the author or co-author of seven books, including Nationalism, Identity and Statehood in Post-Yugoslav Montenegro (2018), Reporting the Siege of Sarajevo (2021) and Montenegro and Serbia: A Velvet Divorce? (2025). He has worked closely with UK government departments and has extensive experience in developing and executing projects for think-tanks and international organizations. He was Specialist Adviser to the House of Lords International Relations Committee for their ‘UK and the Future of the Western Balkans’ inquiry. Kenneth is a Trustee of the peacebuilding charity, Most Mira, and is the Co-Chair of the British Scholarship Trust.
